This 42,000-square-foot project transformed an abandoned brick church into a dynamic educational facility for Pre-K3 to 3rd grade students. The renovation included a community space and classrooms, while a 30,000-square-foot, three-story addition featured grade-specific classrooms, large windows, and a colorful entrance. The project involved extensive coordination with consultants to address challenges such as structural modifications and integrating modern systems within the historic building. The completed facility blends adaptive reuse with modern educational needs and was honored with the USGBC National Capital Region’s Community Champion Award in 2023.
